Addictions are behaviors that cannot be easily stopped that have negative consequences. They can include but are not limited to:
- Gambling
- Excessive and promiscuous sexual behavior
- Social Media
- Compulsive Shopping
- Eating Disorders
This is different than substance abuse as the therapy is completely different. The use of clinical hypnotherapy is common in bringing about the desire change for many behavioral addictions.
Some addictions can be tied to low self-esteem and lack of self-confidence and are a method of self-testing looking for approval from others. In other cases it may be a form of stimulation. In each case the underlying cause is addressed to bring about the desired change.
